Button is the Content Design conference. I was given an opportunity to virtually present a talk on a topic near and dear to my heart: butter leadership.
Talk description
It's easy to think that opportunities for content designers to lead are few and far between. Which makes sense, because the system most of us work in reinforces that idea. But here's a secret I want to share with you: we have the ability to create the system, and discipline, we want. Consider this talk part inquiry, part action, part cheerleading session.
In this session, I covered:
Why so many of us still feel imposter syndrome, and how to flip that narrative
Taking action on the abundance of leadership opportunities in front of you
Your role in defining what working in content design looks and feels like in 10 years
Impact
I mean, it’s hard to say. Lots of folks watched the talk (which is to say, several strangers reached out on LinkedIn to chat about it). I prefer to think of this as one of many little pushes that Content Designers are making toward changing our place in the design industry.
